What is corn cribs?

Corn cribs are structures specifically built to store corn, either in the form of ears (with the husks still on) or shelled kernels. The main function of a corn crib is to protect the corn from moisture and pests, while allowing air to circulate and dry out the ears/kernels. This helps preserve the quality of the corn and prevents mold or rot from developing. Corn cribs are typically elevated off the ground on posts or pillars, with slatted walls or flooring to facilitate airflow. In some cases, they may also have a roof or a protective cover to further shield the corn from the elements. Corn cribs were a common feature on farms in the past, before the advent of modern grain storage methods, and some traditional corn cribs are still in use today.
